Chanoch (pronounced Lochanoloch) Nissany made his Friday test session debut at the Hungarian Grand Prix, at the remarkable age of forty-two.
Nissany drove for
Minardi on his birthday weekend, becoming the first Israeli to test an F1 car in an official session, and the oldest driver for quite some time.
Indeed, Nissany didn't race his first cart until the age of thrity-eight, incredible considering
Michael Schumacher already has seven titles before his thrity-eighth birthday.
Nissany was incredibly slow, twelve seconds off the pace of his Minardi team-mates and
Nicolas Kiesa in the third Jordan. He was the furthest man off the pace in an F1 session since the days of the Lola Mastercard
? team.
After Hungary he was unsurprisingly dropped from the Friday test role, replaced by younger, more experienced and generally better Italian Enrico Toccacello
?, however Nissany will continue testing roles outside Grand Prix weekends.
