After a career at the McLaren junior team in Formula 3000, Stephane Sarrazin was signed as Prost's test and reserve driver for the 1999 season. However when Luca Badoer was injured in the build up to the Brazilian Grand Prix, Sarrazin was loaned out to Minardi to make his Grand Prix debut.
Sarrazin wouldn't finish his only start after an incredible spin, in which he completed seven 360 degree turns. Stephane was shaken, but not stirred. However he never got another chance, with Badoer returning for the next race.
Tarmac to Dirt
At the end of the season Sarrazin switched codes and became a rally driver, with more success than he ever had in single seaters. After showing well in privately entered cars up to 2004, in 2005 the Frenchman was signed as part of the elite Subaru squad, as back up to number one driver Petter Solberg. In his first year in a World Rally car Sarrazin has equited himself well to the Japanese manufacturer, and looks certain for a long rally career.
