Timo Glock

Birthdate:March 10th 1982

Country:Germany Germany

Gender:M

History:
2004 - Formula 1: Jordan Ford, 2 points

Timo Glock arguably deserves another chance at Formula 1. Sadly, with the lower teams considering drivers with money rather than talent, he may never drive a Formula 1 car again.

Starting his motor racing career in 1997 he won several karting championships. In 2002 he finished third in the German Formula 3 championship, before stepping up to Euro Formula 3 the following year, where he clinched fifth.

He began 2004 as Jordan's Friday test driver, where he continually outshone the team's race driver Giorgio Pantano. Timo was then given his chance to shine when Pantano's money dried out before the Canadian Grand Prix.

Montreal was a great race for Timo to make his debut. He beat his illustrious team-mate Nick Heidfield to finish eleventh. This was an extremely hard time for Jordan, who had the second slowest car on the grid. However when Toyota and Williams were disqualified for technical infringements Timo and Nick moved up into points positions. It was a fabulous start to Glock's career.

Glock was back in his customary Friday role for the next few races, until Pantano's luck finally ran out before China. Despite not repeating his Montreal points haul, Glock continued to prove he deserved his F1 place.

Tim O'Glock, as he was known by the Irish team, looked like a contender for a full-time 2005 seat until the team was bought by Russian tycoon Alex Schnaider. With the team instead opting for Narain Karthikeyan and Tiago Monteiro, Glock switched his attention to America. He signed a contract to race in Champ Cars with Paul Gentilozzi's Rocketsports team, where he has been moderately successful in his rookie season.
