Leader Profile

As far as Race Leader goes, this was one of the strangest races in the History of the sport. The initial leader was Peter Arundell (Lotus Climax) followed by John Surtees (Ferrari) who's engine died on lap 3. That left Dan Gurney (Brabham) in the Lead and he began to pull away only to run out of fuel. Graham Hill (BRM) was now the leader, but he too came to a holt with fuel-pump problems.
Bruce McLaren (Cooper) was now the leader, however, his engine stuttered and faultered on the last lap and it was Jim Clark who passed for the Win, only to run out of fuel on the victory lap!
