The BMW P82 was used in the 2002 BMW.Williams FW24, and established a milestone in F1 engines, being the first engine to have reached 19000RPM on the racetrack. This milestone was reached during Qualifying at Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, which also enabled Juan Pablo Montoya to gain Pole Position with a lap that would enter the record books as attaining the fastest average speed over a lap in F1 history, toppling a seventeen year old record held by Keke Rosberg, coincidentally also driving a Williams (the 1985 Williams-Honda FW10).
