The Pace-Car in F1
After some accidents in 1973 the pace-car was introduced as a safety measure. It was first used in Mosport-Canada 1973 where there was a huge chaos because they didn´t know exactly who was leading the race, they picked the wrong guy.
Here is the Porsche 914 with Eppie Wietzes and Peter Mackintosh ahead of the ´wrong´ leader Howden Ganley.
My question: when was it used again and is it possible for us to make a list togehter of all times a pace-car was used.
To start the list:
1973 Mosport

the one that sticks in the mind was Argentina 1996 when Diniz crashed and caught fire, the safety car was a Renault Clio Williams not exactly the fastest thing on 4 wheels but for a brief moment Williams had 3 cars on track

Just for the info, it seems that Mercedes introduced the new safety car for 2006.
CLK63, 6.3l, V8, 481hp, 7-tronic.

They should have gon for SLR or better yet Bugatti Veyron
Seriously speaking a proper supercar will do a better job because then F1 cars won't have to be on under raving 2nd gear or try to keep temprature in tyres.

They could rebuild about any racecar to a good safetycar, but I guess CLK's are the ones they want to sell.
