Default Should F1 take a lead from Baseball?

In baseball some records have a asterisk next to them. For instance the 1919 world seres (due tot he betting scandal) All records from 1994 due to the player strike and some hitting records. Some say that Barry Bonds records should come with an asterisk, because of his alleged drug usage.
Perhaps in the record books were Alonso or Hamilton to win the WDC that too should have an asterisk because of the spying. Michaels 1997 record has one, as do some results from 1984 (when Tyrell were banned). The championship is tainted and future generations should know that.

The championship 2008 won't be tainted if a Ferrari driver wins it eventually.

I know of no records that were effected by the strike year of 1994. What was effected was the playoffs...no champion declared. A common reference to the asterisk that people may be more aware of is in relation to Roger Maris and Babe Ruth and the single season homerun record at the time. Nevertheless, I get the point that you are trying to raise.

It is actually not a bad idea as it would make clear that the McLaren team (which Alonso and Hamilton are apart of) were sanctioned by the FIA. This probably could be implemented even if neither win the title.

In any event, they will have their scarlet letter as I doubt that McLaren (as currently constituted) will ever live it down.

Pitching records for `94 have them due to the strike and the effect on the rotation. I'm talking about the really nerdy stuff here, not the head line grabbing ones.
