Not sure that will make it any better, doesn't look like there are any more overtaking opportunities... I always liked the run from turn 4 back down the hill...

It certainly doesn't help the chance of making tyres last now that re-fuelling is banned.
I wonder - would this make 2 tyre stops a possible beneficial option? That might be fun!

Not a big fan of that to be honest. The sweepers after turn 4 of the original layout were always one of the best bits of the track, now they have a bunch of pointless wiggles and tight corners.

I read something on the Autosport forums earlier that its not actually confirmed, something to do with a rogue CEO releasing a press statement that the rest of the board don't agree with...

Certainly a possibility - as is a rather slow website update. I'm 60% for the latter.

How challenging...... All living F1 worldchampions - present in Bahrein! - won't be impressed.

Silverstone knocks down grandstands to build new Arena circuit
"Silverstone has begun work to build the new “Arena” circuit which it intends to use for this year’s British Grand Prix.
The grandstands opposite the pits have been knocked down and several bridges have also been removed as the circuit’s remodelling begins.
. . . etc."
1 of several interesting photos on the above link:
