2010 Tyre Rules Tweaked
Teams agree new tyre rule for 2010
"Formula 1 teams have agreed to introduce an extra strategic element to races this season by forcing leading drivers to start races on the same tyres that they qualified on, AUTOSPORT can reveal.
...
The change still needs to be voted on by the Formula 1 Commission and the World Motor Sport Council next week before passing into the regulations, but this is likely to be a formality.
... etc"

So, basically, they gave us little time to enjoy a welcome rule change which would have allowed us to see who is really the fastest qualifier, and now they have decided to install this needless strategic element just to make things more complicated.

I must admit, slot-car racing is soon going to be more exciting than F1.
Next they'll be weight handicapping, alloting grid positions by lottery (or "public" vote on their iPhone apps?), and intermittent water spaying on 1 or 2 of the bends. Not to mention a few "big air" jumps in a half-pipe - after all, it works for snow-boaders . . . so it must be worth trying, mustn't it?
I can see car sharing of the early years of F1 coming back, too - so we end up never knowing who can really drive fastest! (Actually - I can think of some really interesting pairings if we need off-track entertainment!)
Somebody, somewhere, seems to need to look up the word "race" in a dictionary.

I am happy Kimi has left F1.Since 2003 it has been unbearable to see how many times they change everything while being perfectly aware that nothing will chance.
Another joke of a rule. Mosley was no worse than FOTA and Todt, they are all idiots.

Ummm - this idea comes from the teams - NOT the FIA. What has Max/Todt to do with it?

I guess that what Whitmarsh and all the other teams are forgetting is that this should be RACING, PURE RACING: the fastest to get to the finish should be the winner. This is not a sport of "TACTICAL RACES". If I wanted that I would see a chess tournament every fortnight instead of a Grand Prix. Now that there's no refuelling we get this?
I guess that we'll only know all the rules of F1 when the green lights are shown to the grid in March...

Exactly because it does not come from the FIA it makes them look like the FIA in the sense that both teams and the FIA have made ridiculous changes over the past few years.

What a crap last hour rulechange! We finally got rid of refuelling strategics and now qualifying will turn into an utter joke. What's left of the true value of poleposition?
The fact that the teams support such an idea is just incredible, are they sleeping under the same blanket as the FIA?

This new rule sounds bad, but I don't think it's THAT bad.
As a matter of fact, I don't think it will have any effect whatsoever.
The tyres will be made harder in 2010 in order to handle the extra weight from the fuel, won't they?
Surely this will take us back to a 2007/2008-like situation (where the difference between the tyres is more about driver preference and car behaviour than outright performance).

The new rule is good.
But in cloudy whether there will be some problems for driver.
Tires will be wet in qualifying and if driver has to use that wet tires then it will difficult for them.
